Port-A-Cool®
Maintenance
WINTERIZE YOUR PORT-A-COOL®
UNIT
With the arrival of cooler weather,
now is the time for owners of Port-A-Cool®
units to prepare for cold weather storage of
Port-A-Cool® units. Correct storage
is fundamental to keep Port-A-Cool®
units operating at top performance when needed.
FOUR STEPS TO STORAGE
- Drain all water from the sump
tank and clean, ensuring that the pads and
sump are completely dry.
- Clean out the in-line strainer.
Remove the spray bar and clean out any debris.
Reinstall after cleaning.
- Disconnect and roll up any
electrical power cords and any hoses so that
they will not be trampled on, tripped over
or caught in equipment.
- Cover the Port-A-Cool®
unit completely to prevent dust build-up and
store the unit in a dry area. This also helps
prevent damage to the pads for longer pad
life. Covers are available to fit each size
unit. Please visit accessories page for more
information.
SUMMERIZE YOUR PORT-A-COOL®
UNIT
By performing the following simple
steps, a Port-A-Cool® unit will continue
to produce effective cooling throughout the
summer.
- Inspect cooling media for
break down, such as sagging or gapping. Clean
if dirty. Replace if needed.
- Check the fan blade to make
sure it rotates freely.
- Make sure the fan belt is
tight and in good condition.
- Oil the motor if necessary.
- Check and clean Inline Strainer.
- Clean Sump Tank and Spray
Bar.
- Pump should be clear of any
obstructions.
- Make sure Drain Valve is closed
and spray Bar Adjustment Valve is open (approximately
3 turns).
- Determine if water and power
source are adequate.
- Fill reservoir before turning
pump “on.”
- Make sure Float Valve operates
properly.
